Work continues on "illegal" Mount of Olives Mosque

The Israel National News is reporting that work is continuing on a Mosque located on the Mount of Olives despite an official ruling that work must stop.  The new extension will be located just feet away from the graves of deceased Jews. The Mount of Olives is one of the most holy sites in Judaism and Christianity.  A cemetery located on the mount contains about 150,000 graves and it has been in use for about 3000 years.  The Bible records numerous references to the Mount of Olives, including Acts 1:9-12 which tells of Jesus’ ascension into heaven.

To complicate matters, Palestinians desire east Jerusalem (as well as the Mount of Olives) to be the capital of their future state.  It already contains 20,000 to 30,000 buildings that are considered illegal by the Jewish municipality.

To be fair, the Israeli government likely isn’t very helpful in giving building permits to Arabs.
